It really depends. Inflation isn't always 5-6%, in most years it's between 1 and 3%, which means that the nominal 2.25% interest on Fry's savings account would have beat the average inflation over 1000 years. Even in years where it didn't beat inflation, he would have lost less relative value than people who weren't generating that interest. Assuming fry just barely beat the average inflation over 1,000 years it would be like he turned his 0.93 cents in 1990's money into $1,635.08 in 1990's money, which is pretty incredible honestly.

Idunno why Leela was giving him a look about the 93 cents, that was more than enough to complete the bail
@prettyboyjeremy Před 3 měsíci
She probably has more in her bank account, but Bender stole her wallet, remember?
@aejiis Před 3 měsíci
Because having only 93¢ is insanely little for a 23 year old guy living with his parents. If you live with your parents you could have 2500-3000 dollars saved in just a month working at Walmart nowadays. Surely at least 1500 dollars on 1999's minimal wage.
@BlazingEternal Před 3 měsíci
@@aejiis In what universe would working at a Walmart make you that much money a month? Maybe if you were near the top, but not as a cashier or something entry-level, as most 23-year Olds would be. The $1500 is debatable. But the $2500-$3000?

It's unlikely that a regular bank account's interest rate would be higher than inflation. Most of the time if the account is dormant for sometime it becomes frozen.

Those are measures that were introduced AFTER he fell into the time pod...? There was NEVER a time when Fry would have ever needed to provide a colonic map!
@farfromirrational948 Před 2 měsíci
@@KaleunMaender77the way she says it could imply that the retina scan was the last scan they did. Meaning they might have just checked his colon before that.
@KaleunMaender77 Před 2 měsíci
@@farfromirrational948 or the way the writer wrote it meant that between 1999 and 3000 retinal scans and colonic maps became measures banks took to identify the correct customer... 🙄
@farfromirrational948 Před 2 měsíci
@@KaleunMaender77 you should work on reading and listening comprehension. When fry gets the retina scan the bank teller says "we can't seem to find your fingerprints, retina scan, or colonic map". You can infer that Fry has already given his name and told her about his old account. You can also infer that since you witnessed the retina scan, that the reason she can't find fingerprints, or a colonic map, is because she already tried to scan his fingers and his colon. You're welcome. Stop trying to ruin other people's parades just because you lack comprehension skills
