In this side of the world we use mashed up avocados (prepared with salt and a bit of cooking oil), tomatoes, and sometimes mayo, or Sauerkraut (or chucrut as known locally) if you are feeling adventureous, maybe an onion salad with lemon, salt, and parsley or coriander. The pure variety is great. I hope one day, when we see media from the US you learn to embrace the international variety.
